Friday Finds

Friday Finds is here.
Tinkers by Paul Harding (Jan.1, 2009)

"Tinkers is truly remarkable...It confers on the reader the best privilege fiction can afford, the illusion of ghostly proximity to other human souls." Marilynne Robinson, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Home, Gilead, and Housekeeping.

That's good enough for me.

The Lieutenant by Kate Grenville (Feb.5, 2009)

I have read The Secret River***** and The Idea of Perfection****, both award winning novels by this Australian writer. One of my favourites. This is her new book.

All Other Nights by Dara Horn (Apr.2, 2009)

"A gripping epic about the great moral struggles of the Civil War.How is tonight different from all other nights? For Jacob Rappaport, a Jewish soldier in the Union army, it is a question his commanders have answered for him: on Passover in 1862 he is ordered to murder his own uncle, who is plotting to assassinate President Lincoln.
After that night, will Jacob ever speak for himself? The answer comes when his commanders send him on another mission this time not to murder a spy but to marry one."

What are you looking forward to reading?

  1. The boook "All other Nights" sounds really interesting. I love books set during the Civil War time period.

  2. Both the Greenville and the Horn book look interesting. I'm not into ghosts!

  3. Tinkers caught my attention. Great list.

  4. Sandra, "All Other Nights" looks really good! I have not read any Greenville yet, but I might have to look into that since you like her so much.

  5. I think The Lieutenant is coming to me as a review copy... (Fingers crossed) I loved The Idea of Perfection.

I just gave you an award on my blog here.

  6. They all look fascinating, especially Dara Horn's new novel.

  7. I've read The Lieutenant already (it came out here last year) and thought it was a good read. There's a review on my blog if you are interested.

  8. Your finds sound great. I'm looking forward to reading School of Essential Ingredients this weekend!

  9. Tinkers looks like it might be interesting.

Come check out my LONG list.

  10. All other nights is going on my list - thanks!

  11. Hi Sandra,
