Bloggiesta

Hosted by Natasha at Maw Books Blog.

Friday, June 19th, 8am-Sunday June 21, 8 a.m.

This is my opening post.

I've been at it for 8 hours and accomplished very little. I haven't manage to figure out the technicalities of any of the mini challenges, it's just techie stupidity on my part. My computer has been acting up all day and my body is trying to crash. I'm saying "fiesta" and it's hearing "siesta".
.
The good news:

I did manage to clean up my reader of a few inactive or moved blogs. Blogger won't let me follow more than 300 people though-harummmph. If you feature literary fiction or visit my blog regularly I like to follow yours. You may be one that I've had to bookmark in a special "following" folder if you're after the 300 mark.

I found some of the blogs that Blogger dropped off my following list for no apparent reason a couple months back. My apologies to Maw Books Blog, Pudgy Penguin Perusals, Rundpinne, and Under the Boardwalk. I've been to your blogs recently, I just didn't know I was no longer following you. I'm sure there are others, I'll find you.

I did manage to put a website grade logo on my blog-whoop dee do, I know. I read the explanation but I don't think it means much really.

I have written, but not put onto my blog yet, my New Crayons (Sunday), Mailbox Monday, and What are You Reading on Monday? posts. Whoop dee do, I may have done that anyway.

My big plans:

-Answer Weekly Geek questions about books read but not reviewed yet-that's the big one.

-Write my first Thursday Favourites post - I blogged about books for two years before I started here at Fresh Ink. I have a lot of five star recommendations to share.

-Write Thursday Tea post-I love doing this one and I've missed the last couple of weeks.

-Write Haiku Friday post-my own poetry, which I've written professionally for 25 years.

-Write Aussie awards for literature post-Tim Winton won the Miles Franklin Award yesterday for breath and I have been reading the nominees.

-Create an 'about me' page for those who've asked.

-Write a post about doorstoppers- I love them

-Put a books reviewed list/button in the sidebar, ditto for books read in 2009, 2008 etc., and/or a best reads or five star reads list.

Oh, I'm full of ideas. We'll see how far I get.

I'm completely open to suggestions of any kind for improving my blog.

How are you doing? I'm really keen to see your changes or hear your ideas about blog improvement.
.
Thank you to Natasha for all her hard work, I cannot imagine doing this AND running the show.

  1. You are doing great! If you need any help or questions answered just let me know and I'd be more than happy to talk you through some techie things. Regarding the website grader badge, I honestly don't think it's necessary to display. I don't have one! But it's the info in the report that is helpful. Good luck with the rest of the challenge!

  5. Your blog looks great! I'm looking forward to your tea posts (I'm an oolong fan myself) and your take on doorstoppers. I keep shying away from many of them because no matter how good it is I get anxious to move on to the next book. Sad, but true. :-)

  6. Don't be too hard on yourself, Sandra! (And I completely understand the techie issues; I have that problem too.)

Thank you for commenting on my LT Challenge posts; you inspired me to update the 2009 one!

I'm also behind (i.e. not writing reviews), but I'm still getting other things accomplished.

Your I'm saying "fiesta" and it's hearing "siesta" is funny! That's pretty much how I felt last night... Tonight I may have to resort to coffee (which I've only drunk once in the last 17 years, so who knows what will happen!)
