WINNER of Matrimony by Joshua Henkin

It's Giveaway Day here at Fresh Ink Books and a signed paperback copy of Matrimony by Joshua Henkin is going to...

Congratulations mamasbooks. Thank you to every one of the 25 people who entered or commented, and those who blogged about it.

Joshua has generously offered to participate with any book group who chooses to read and discuss his book Matrimony. You can contact him through his website: http://joshuahenkin.com/ or ask me for his email address if your group is interested in having him talk to them.
Some of the advice on marriage that readers had:
laura:
I've been married for 26 years and my advice for contentment in marriage is to be willing to overlook offenses and never say anything ugly that you'll have to apologize for later. Words hurt and leave behind lingering aftereffects long after they've been spoken.
sunny:
I've been married 12 years and by no means do we have it down yet! LOL! I'd say have fun together and have great communication. Those are both key!
wendi b.:
...we have our ups and downs, but one thing we try to do is be open and honest with each other. Not doing so will build resentment and kill trust.

books by tj baff:
I have been married almost 20 years and the secret to our marriage has been that we are best friends. He is the 1st person that I want to tell something to. Even after the death of our son two years ago...we are still best friends and lovers. We ground each other and bolster each other up.

icedream:
...my parents will soon celebrate their 42nd. I learned from them that a relationship is never 50/50. It is always at best 60/40 and you have to know when to be the one to giving more.

tasses:
I've got 28 years in and I'd have to say the thing that has kept us together is just WANTING it to work... wanting to be married, to form a whole family, to grow old together, wanting to hold our friendship together, wanting grandchildren on our knee, basically wanting the same things from life.

colleen:
...if you want it to work, and you work at it, then you really can be happy.

traveler:
I have been married for 38 years. Trust, enduring love and communication all work.
