Booking Through Thursday

What are the most “wintery” books you can think of? The ones that almost embody Winter?

During long hot summers I like to read about the cold and descriptions of snow or winter are a favourite.

Snow Country by Yasunaro Kawabata
The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann
Snow by Orhan Pamuk
Endless Night by Allister McLean
Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates by Mary Mapes Dodge
Snow Falling on Cedars By David Guterson
Smilla's Sense of Snow By Pete Hamill
Light on Snow by Anita Shreve
The Call of the Wild by Jack London
The Dead by James Joyce

  12. I think of A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn...His description of living in a Siberian prison camp made me shiver! Also, Alone: The Classic Polar Adventure by Richard Byrd was a great, great read. Great list...Thanks. I like your blog. B.
