  1. This is a tough question. I think you're the first person to mention The Color Purple which is a fantastic book!

  2. I love your list. I read My Name is Asher Lev by Potok and loved it. The Chosen is on my TBR list.I've been slowly reading Housekeeping. It's such a great book filled with beautiful passages. I read Ellen Foster when I was younger and then devoured everything by Gibbons. I haven't read her in years. I'm going to have to pick the book up again.Olson is another author I loved. Agee, Walker, Wright, and Conrad are all on my Project Fill-in-the Gaps list.

    You have a great list.

  8. I'm glad to see "Ellen Foster" on someone's list - it very nearly made it onto mine. I just finished reading it recently and I'm sure it's going to stick with me, but figured I should pick mostly books I've known a little longer. You've got a really good list there.

  13. What a cool question! I might have to try this sometime. And I love that "The Chosen" was one of your books! I'm reading that for my Take A Chance Challenge and I'd never heard of it so I'm looking forward to reading it now since it seems to be a memorable book!

  15. I love this list because I haven't read most of the books.

#6 and 8 are authors I really want to read. They remind me of Knut Hamsung, who also wrote a novel called Hunger.
